七夕の海

たまたまこの日は新潟の友人と佐渡をまわり、最後に訪れた相川の夫婦岩付近で美しい夕景に出会いました。梅雨の最中なので、厚い雲がありましたが、ゆったりと海を眺めていると、海に太陽が没する直前に夕陽の色が藍色の雲と海の中に浮かび上がり、七夕の日のの印象的な夕日となりました。水平線の向こうが北上しつつある梅雨前線の西の端かも知れません。

On this particular day, I happened to be touring Sado Island with a friend from Niigata, and we encountered a beautiful sunset near the Meoto Iwa rocks in Aikawa, our final destination. Although it was the middle of the rainy season and there were thick clouds, as we gazed out at the sea, the colors of the sunset rose up from the blue clouds and the sea just before the sun set, creating an impressive sunset reminiscent of Tanabata. The western edge of the rainy season front may have been moving northward beyond the horizon.
