海抜数メートルの高原

新潟市内にある潟のひとつ、上堰潟。その周囲にはさまざまな樹木が植えられていますが、なかでも早朝のメタセコイアが植栽された一角は特に印象的です。遠目には、長野県などでよく見られるカラマツにも似ており、朝霧の中ではまるで高原にいるかのような雰囲気が漂います。梅雨時の湿った空気が潟に霧を生み、朝焼けの温かな光が樹間から差し込む様子は幻想的です。

上堰潟公園は、菜の花やコスモスのシーズンには多くの観光客で賑わい、潟を一周する遊歩道ではウォーキングを楽しむ人々の姿も見られます。水辺に親しめる公園として、地元の人々にも人気のスポットです。

Kamigamigata Lagoon is one of the lagoons in Niigata City. Various trees are planted around it, but the corner planted with metasequoia trees in the early morning is particularly impressive. From a distance, the metasequoia resembles the larch commonly seen in Nagano and other prefectures, and in the morning mist, it seems as if you are on a plateau. The moist air during the rainy season creates fog in the lagoon, and the warm light of the morning sun shining through the trees is fantastic.

Kamigamigata Park is crowded with tourists during the rape blossoms and cosmos season, and people can also be seen walking along the promenade that circles the lagoon. It is a popular spot among locals as a park where they can become familiar with the waterfront.
