中津川渓谷

秋山郷へ向かう渓谷は非常に深く、渓流へ下りる道もわずかしかありません。道幅も狭く、両側が切り立った崖になっているため、たとえ絶好の撮影スポットを見つけても、思い通りにカメラを構えられる場所を確保できるとは限りません。山が深いため道の整備も容易ではなく、杉などの植林もほとんど見られません。そのおかげで、新潟県内でも屈指の美しい紅葉が楽しめる場所となっています。国道117号線から分かれ、津南町の中心街を抜けて中津川の河岸段丘を右手に見ながらおよそ30分ほど車を走らせると、崖を切り開いて造られた国道405号線沿いに壮大な渓谷が姿を現します。
