輸出額が米より多い錦鯉

ここは山古志を巡る道路から眺められる、最も山古志らしい場所の一つです。山古志といえば、錦鯉の養殖が盛んな地域として知られています。この池も鯉の飼育池で、水質を中和するために撒かれた石灰と土の色が混ざり、空の色も映し出されて独特の色調を作り出しています。日本の伝統色で言えば「紺碧（こんぺき）」と呼べるような深い青緑色です。
また、ここは水田ではなく鯉の池であるため、圃場整備で直線的な形にされず、ゆるやかな曲線を保ったまま村の中心部に広がっています。たくさんある鯉の池が、山古志の風景を特徴づける大きな要素となっています。
ちなみに、令和23年度（2021年度）の新潟県全体の農林水産物輸出額のうち、錦鯉の輸出額は実に63％を占めています。

This is one of the most Yamakoshi-like places that can be seen from the road that goes around Yamakoshi. Yamakoshi is known for its Nishikigoi carp farming. This pond is also a carp breeding pond, and the color of the soil mixed with the lime sprinkled to neutralize the water quality and the color of the sky are reflected in the pond, creating a unique color tone. It is a deep blue-green color that could be called “konpeki,” a traditional Japanese color.
Because this is not a paddy field but a carp pond, the pond has not been made into a straight line by field maintenance, but has retained its natural curves and is located in the center of the village. The shape of the pond is a major element that characterizes the landscape of Yamakoshi.
Incidentally, Nishikigoi exports accounted for 63% of Niigata Prefecture’s total exports of agricultural, forestry, and marine products in FY2021.
