佐渡相川の光

2023年6月に「新潟絵屋」というギャラリーで個展「レトロパースペクティブ」を開催した折にこの写真を展示しました。個展直前に知り合った五泉市の曹洞宗永谷寺住職の吉原東元様に不躾にも知り合った海岸でモデルになっていただき、撮影した写真も展示しました。会期中見に来られた東元さんが、寺に飾るためにと購入していただきました。この写真はかなり以前に佐渡相川で撮影。西方の海に光が差している様子が、仏教伝来の歴史とマッチしているからというご説明をいただきました。写真にも出会いにも「光」が大切です！素晴らしい出会いに感謝です。合掌。永谷寺ホームページ

In June 2023, I exhibited this photograph at a solo exhibition titled “Retrospective” held at the “Niigata Eya” gallery. Prior to the exhibition, I had the honor of meeting Rev. Yoshihara Tōgen, the abbot of Yokoku-ji Temple in Gosen City, and he kindly agreed to pose as a model at the coast where we had met. The photograph taken during that session was also exhibited. During the exhibition period, Rev. Tōgen purchased the photograph to display at the temple. This photograph was taken quite some time ago in Sado Aikawa. I was told that the scene of light shining on the western sea aligns with the history of Buddhism’s arrival in Japan. Both the photograph and the encounter are about “light”! I am deeply grateful for this wonderful encounter. Gassho. Yokokuji-Temple
