筒石

筒石港の沖合に、もう30年以上も前から時折撮影している一本の電柱があります。かつては桟橋沿いに照明用として何本か立っていたようですが、今ではそのうちの一本だけが、ぽつんと海に佇んでいます。

海水にさらされながらも不思議と朽ち果てることなく、撤去されることもなく、冬の荒れた海や美しい夕景の中でも変わらずそこに立ち続けています。その姿は、時の移り変わりを静かに見守っているかのようです。

海岸に立つ番小屋とともに、この電柱は筒石の風景を象徴する存在となっています。

Off the coast of Tsutsuishi Port, there is a single utility pole that I have been photographing on and off for over 30 years. It seems that there used to be several of them lining the pier for lighting purposes, but now only one remains, standing alone in the sea.

Despite being exposed to seawater, it has somehow managed to avoid decaying or being removed, continuing to stand there unchanged through the rough winter seas and beautiful sunsets. Its presence seems to quietly witness the passage of time.

Along with the guardhouse on the coast, this power pole has become a symbol of Tsutsuishi landscape.
