The forest near the Hakkaisan Shrine in Minamiuonuma. On a clear winter morning, it gets very cold. As the sun begins to rise, the temperature gradually increases, and the snow accumulated on the branches begins to fall softly. The quiet sound of snow falling from the trees, accompanied by the gentle rustling of the branches, is a characteristic scene of a snowy region in the morning. However, I am not sure if there is a special name for this unique sight of a snowy region.
In Niigata Prefecture, where temperatures do not drop as low, phenomena like diamond dust are not commonly seen even in Uonuma. However, at this time, the tiny snowflakes and crystals falling from the sky sparkle brilliantly in the sunlight. Both the eyes and the camera are bathed in the cold, sparkling snow. This too feels like one of the unique aspects of the snowy landscape of a region with heavy snowfall.
